Changes in the rules
The Civil Aviation Authority has changed the rules which tell Airport operators how to go about planning and consulting around changes to the configuration and management of airspace and arrival and departure flight paths. The new rules (CAP1616) are here and the old rules (CAP725) are here. The new rules are due to come into operation early this year and are more complex and demanding than the old rules. Government. however, issued guidance to airport operators, telling them to conform to the new guidelines if they were planning a change to airspace management before they came into force.
A far as we can tell, Newcastle Airport ignored this.
